The mission of Ballet Folklorico Sol Azteca is to encourage and promote cultural arts in our community and educate the general public on the importance of understanding a different culture. We believe that preserving the ancient rituals and customs, reviving forgotten traditions of past generations from Mexico, and appreciating the beauty of Mexican folklore through traditional dances and music, are all part of growing culturally diverse. The group hopes to bring a taste of Mexico with colorful patterns to the unknown eyes and ears. It invites the audience to participate and feel welcomed in becoming part of their new traditional culture.
La misión del Ballet Folklórico Sol Azteca es promover y difundir el arte cultural en nuestra comunidad y educar al público en general en la importancia de entender una cultura diferente. Creemos que preservar los rituales ancestrales y costumbres, revivir tradiciones olvidadas de generaciones pasadas de México y apreciar la belleza del folklore Mexicano por medio de la danza, y su música, son partes esenciales para crecer en una sociedad cultural diversa. El grupo espera traer un probadita de México con coloridas figuras a los ojos que no lo conocen. Invita a la audiencia a participar y sentirse invitados de una nueva cultura tradicional y sentirse parte de ella.
Ballet Folklorico Sol Azteca has presented their traditional dances throughout Oregon, parts of Washington and California and is rapidly gaining recognition in many cultural, community and art events.
The group has had participation at the Washington Hispanic Festival in Centralia, Washington;”Recuerdos de mi Tierra en Los Angeles CA; “Knott’s Berry Farm California”; Foklife Festival in Seattle Ten Tiny Dances in Beaverton, Fiestas Patrias in Woodburn; Oregon State Fair in Salem; Columbia Slough Festival in Portland, Oregon and many more.
Ballet Folklorico Sol Azteca has featured performances at many community events such as Festival Latino in Hillsboro, performances at many recognized educational institutions such as Portland State University, Portland Community College, Linfield College, Centralia College, and University of Portland.
Ballet Folklórico Sol Azteca ha presentado sus bailes tradicionales en distintos lugares de Oregon y partes de Washington y rápidamente esta siendo reconocido en muchos eventos culturales y comunitarios.
